Swedish Massage

Swedish massage is about comfort and relaxation.  The therapist uses light to moderate pressure in a range of long, relaxing strokes to focus on more superficial layers of muscles.  Swedish Massage is ideal for relaxation, acute stress relief, rejuvenating muscles, and improving circulation.

Deep Tissue Massage

Deep Tissue Massage involves working your way into the deeper muscle layers after first warming up the muscles on top.  A combination of slow, deliberate strokes of deep pressure are utilized to decrease tension in the deeper muscles, particularly on tight or tender areas.  More pressure is used than one would typically experience during a Swedish massage.  Deep Tissue Massage is ideal for chronic tightness and overuse injuries.

Stress Relief Massage

This specialized massage combines relaxing Swedish massage, deep tissue massage, acupressure points, essential oils, and hot towels.  Feel stress melt away from the inside out by beginning with the soothing aroma of lavender and the deep penetrating heat of hot towels.  Then deep tissue massage is utilized on common stress areas in the neck, shoulders, back, and forearms.  Specific acupressure points are stimulated throughout the massage to re-energize the body.  With a perfect combination of relaxing and therapeutic techniques, this massage is ideal for those wanting to manage the negative physical and physiological effects of stress.

Sports Massage

Sports Massage focuses on treatment and prevention of injuries that are common in athletes. Types of treatment can include a combination of stretches, self-myofascial release, soft tissue release, manual muscle testing, as well as pre and post event massage. Pre-event massage uses dynamic stretching, compression, and shaking/vibration to prepare the body for activity and reduce injury risk. Post-activity massage focuses on recovering muscle tissues that may have been impacted during the sport or activity. It involves long, lighter strokes to flush out toxins, rehydrate muscles, and restore mobility. Sports Massage is ideal for those looking to enhance performance, reduce injury risk, and speed up the recovery process.

Orthopedic Massage

This one of a kind massage focuses on correcting muscular issues caused by poor posture, repetitive movement injuries, lack of movement, or any combination thereof.  It combines assessments, IASTM (Instrument Assisted Soft TIssue Mobilizatoin) , deep tissue massage, and corrective exercises. The session starts with an assessment of mobility, stability, strength or weakness of one or more areas.  If needed, a full body screen called the FMS (Functional Movement Screen) can be used to analyze specific movement patterns that will highlight issues with mobility and stability throughout the body.  Then the massage session begins utilizing IASTM along with deep tissue and Swedish massage to stimulate underactive muscles and relax overactive muscles.  The session will end with exercises that will help "lock in" the new mobility or stability gained during treatment, which could include corrective exercises or stretches. This massage is ideal for those seeking to move better and function better by addressing muscular and postural issues.
(See Fitness page for more information on FMS and IASTM).
NOTE:  Massage sessions will be 30, 60, or 90 minutes long with 30 minutes added to each massage to allow for assessments and/or exercises. Assessments and exercises will vary and may take any duration of time up to 30 minutes.

Prenatal Massage

Pregnancy massage shares many of the same goals as Swedish Massage while keeping in mind the changes that occur with pregnancy.  Side-lying position will be utilized to achieve relaxation and ease muscle soreness and tension.  The benefits are profound, including emotional support, relief of pain due to extra weight and postural imbalance, improve circulation, and relaxation.
